For Weddings performed in MISSOURI couples may apply for marriage license at either of two Jackson County offices:

Both offices are open Mon-Fri, 8 AM-5 PM, except for legal holidays. Applications are taken until 5 PM, but you are asked to apply prior to 4:30 PM in order to allow enough time to process your application.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Both bride and groom must appear together at the Recorder of Deeds office.
2. Both bride and groom must be at least 18 years old to marry without parental consent. See for more information regarding age requirements.
3. Both bride and groom must provide social security numbers.
4. Both bride and groom must provide proper identification, such as:
- valid driver's license
- Missouri ID
- US passport
- Foreign passport with visa or us entry stamp
- military ID
- certified copy of us birth certificate, plus photo ID
- government ID card with gov. issued ID#
FEES:
Fee for license is $50 and may be paid by cash or credit cards, except American Express or debit card. If bride chooses to change her name after wedding ceremony, a certified copy necessary for name change may be purchased for an additional $10 for presentation to Social Security Administration, Driver's License Bureau, etc. This documentation is necessary legal proof for government agencies, insurers, etc.
Marriage license is valid for 30 days from day of issue.

Marriage License Application Requirements
- Blood tests ARE NOT required.
- $80 fee payable in cash or money order only. Money orders should be payable to "Clerk of the District Court". The money is non-refundable.
- Applicant must be the bride or groom. Both applicants need not be present.
- Applicant must swear under oath:
- The applicants are not related (i.e.1st cousin or closer).
- The applicants have no spouse. (If divorced, decree must be filed over 30 days ago.)
- The applicants know of no other reason why they should not be legally married.
- Both parties age 18 or older -- no consent requirements. Any applicant who is under age 18 must have either:
- Identification number (usually social security number)
- Applicants are of the opposite sex.
Applicants' information:
- Full name (First, Middle and Last)
- Residence (City, county and state)
- Birthplace (State or foreign country)
- Date of birth
- Number of this marriage (1st, 2nd, etc)
- If previously married, how last marriage ended and when
- Social Security Number
- Specific hispanic origin (if any)
- Race
- Highest level of education completed
- Both fathers' full name (First, Middle and Last)
- Both mothers' full name (First, Middle and Maiden)
- All birthplaces (State or Foreign Country)
- If either applicant is under eighteen (18), the name of parent or consenting guardian.
- Name and address of person performing ceremony, if known.
- The marriage license is ONLY valid in Kansas.
- No marriage license can be issued before a three (3) business-day waiting period. For example, a license applied for on Tuesday cannot be picked up until Friday.
- The marriage license is good for six (6) months.
- Blood tests ARE NOT required.
